Sediagonna

Sediagonna is a chair to wear. It gives to who sits on it the elegance of a gown. An embracing chair that steals shapes from fashion. Developed for the Salone del Mobile 2006  for Gebrüder Thonet Vienna S.p.A. and the Scuola Politecnica di Design during a design lab in which twenty-five young international designers measured their talents against a timeless icon of world design: the Thonet chair. The project began in October 2005, with a brainstorming session led by Denis Santachiara, then coordinated by Riccardo Blumer in collaboration with Giovanni del Vecchio, CEO of Gebrüder Thonet Vienna S.p.A. and Giulio Cappellini. Sediagonna was among the 5 selected projects of the design lab defined as ‘a daring and ironic interpretation of the classic Thonet: a sexed-up version that fits like a skirt’.
